3-11 | St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in Columbia

On Saturday, March 19 grab a few of your Providence Park neighbors and head over to the eclectic Five Points District from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. for one of the Midlands’ largest annual street festivals and largest celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day in the Southeast.

The event kicks off withSt. Pat’s Get to the Green 10K, 5K and 1-mile Family Fun Run, which offers runners free admission into the festival. A fun-filled parade, kid-friendly Pot O’ Gold Playland, swinging shag exhibition and DJ throw down, as well as five stages with live music hosting nearly 20 acts provide the entertainment for the event. Calling all explorers! The Traveling Exhibit, Dinos: The Big Dig is now at EdVenture Children’s Museum! Located in downtown Columbia, EdVenture gives you the chance to go back in time with the dinosaurs. Children and adults alike will enjoy the roaring robotic dinosaurs such as the Raptor, Stegosaurus and Triceratops.

Experience what it is like to pan for gemstones in the Treasure Creek or dig for fossils in the Dino Dig Pit! Youngsters can dress up in fun costumes to add to the fun. Afterwards, relax with some books or put on a puppet show. Continue reading
